** Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, unfortunately the 2020 ProSPER.Net Young Researchers’ School (YRS) has been cancelled. **
Hosted by Tsinghua University under the theme ‘Big Data on Earth System Science for Sustainable Development’, the YRS will provide participants with an understanding of the application and implementation of data on sustainability and earth system science, whilst developing their research and communication skills.
Throughout the week-long programme, young researchers will have the opportunity to advance their knowledge in a range of areas, including the climate system, biogeochemistry, earth system observation and simulation technology, high performance computing, and global change economics, to better meet the challenges of global environmental change and sustainable development.
Participants will learn how data-based measures can promote sustainable development, with applications ranging from the screening and treatment of pollution sources, to the improvement of solid waste management capacities, to the examination of forest cover and effectiveness of protection measures.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
The YRS will consist of in-class components (lectures, practical/individual/group assignments, presentations, and discussion sessions) as well as field trips held in Beijing and the surrounding area.
