Open Call to Host ProSPER.Net Events in 2018

The ProSPER.Net Secretariat announced the 2018 Call for Proposals to host below ProSPER.Net activities:

  • Leadership Programme (LP)
  • Young Researchers’ School (YRS)
  • Board Meeting / General Assembly (BM/GA)
  • Sustainability Forum

The call for hosting events in 2018 is now closed.

It is recommended that above activities are organized back to back with international conferences in related fields, university celebrations, and other sustainability events. In the past for example the Sustainability Forum was held back to back with the Joint Board Meeting and General Assembly.

Hosting ProSPER.Net activities is a great opportunity to showcase your own institute’s initiatives in education and research for sustainable development. It is also an opportunity to enhance international collaboration among ProSPER.Net members and beyond.

ProSPER.Net has been implementing the YRS annually since 2009 and the LP since 2013. The YRS is a capacity building programme designed for PhD candidates in sustainability related fields. The LP provides young academics, public officials, and sustainability practitioners in private and public sectors to become agents of change through a transformational and experiential learning process.

The 2017 ProSPER.Net Young Researchers’ School was organized from 6-15 March in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam at International University – Vietnam National University. Under the theme “Water Security for Sustainable Development in a Changing Climate”, 16 participants from universities across Asia-Pacific learned about water security, policy and practices of river basin management in the Mekong Delta.

The 2017 ProSPER.Net Leadership Programme will be organized from 29 June – 5 July in Bangkok, Thailand, with the theme “Building transformational leadership towards the Sustainable Development Goals”, hosted by Chulalongkorn University. The Programme will focus on developing skills in project planning, management and assessment, as well as gaining communication skills and enhancing the capacity for decision-making processes.

The ProSPER.Net Board Meeting and General Assembly are held annually or bi-annually. In the past the meetings have often been held back to back with the Sustainability Forum (as in 2016). During these meetings, the ProSPER.Net community may discuss ProSPER.Net membership, initiate new projects and other potential forms of engagement within the network and beyond.
