OVERVIEW

Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) has developed as a unique science/technology higher education institution in Japan with its expertise in agricultural science and engineering, two scientific fields that support the fundamentals of human society, agriculture and industry. Academic and research activities conducted at TUAT across a broad range of areas can contribute to constructing a secure and safe society, and can create and develop new industries.

TUAT education and research aim to further pursue the truth based on free ideas; and to foster experienced researchers, engineers and highly specialised professionals who uncompromisingly reflect on the influence science and technology have on the Earth, society and mankind.

COURSES

Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) offers a number of postgraduate-degree courses to foster leaders for the next generation who will challenge global issues and contribute to a sustainable society.

All courses in the following programs are offered in English.

In 2019, this multidisciplinary doctoral program named “Joint Doctoral Program for Sustainability Research (JDPSR)” was established based on the belief that working towards a resolution for global issues currently being faced by humanity – particularly issues related to development, environment and peace – is the duty and purpose of sustainability research. Through courses in this program jointly offered by TUAT, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) and University of Electro-Communications (UEC), PhD students can study sustainability research with the specialisations of the three universities.

CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMMES

Institute of Global Innovation Research (GIR), a research institution of TUAT established in 2016 to promote global research projects with world’s leading researchers, offers various seminars related with “Food”, “Energy” and “Life Science”. These are three priority research areas of the institution and its seminars are presented by world-leading researchers in each area.
