Iwate University has four faculties for undergraduate students: Humanities and Social Sciences, Education, Engineering, and Agriculture. It also has five graduate schools: Humanities and Social Sciences (Master’s Programmes), Education (Master’s Programmes), Engineering (Doctoral Programmes), Agriculture (Master’s Programmes), and Agricultural Sciences (Doctoral Programmes). Iwate University is now trying to embed ESD in all curricula provided for undergraduate students.

For students seeking to gain a deeper knowledge of ways humans may co-exist with the natural environment according to their goals, graduate schools also offer a wide range of fields developed from the comprehensive perspective of society, life and resource management.
